5 Tips for 2018 CRG Game Days

Saturday, March 10, 2018 marks the start of the Cincinnati Rollergirls' second season at our new venue, Schmidt Memorial Fieldhouse at Xavier University. Follow these five tips to make your game day experience a great one!

1. Save money by buying your tickets in advance (although they’ll also be available at the door).

Get your season tickets or single-game tickets in advance online through Brown Paper Tickets and save! Online tickets sales are scheduled to end at 1 p.m. on game days, but tickets will still be available at the door if you miss the cutoff.

2. Most seating is general admission — first come, first serve.

Originally built in the late 1920s for Xavier basketball, Schmidt Memorial Fieldhouse is a 3,000-seat arena with wooden bleachers. Season ticket holders enjoy seating in reserved rows behind the team benches. All remaining seating on both sides of the fieldhouse is general admission and first-come, first-serve. This includes seating in chairs on the floor opposite the team benches and directly on the floor (floor seating is for fans 18 and older only). You’re welcome to bring or buy a seat cushion to make your game day experience more comfortable. If you want a good seat close to the track, arrive early — doors open at 5 p.m. and the first game starts at 6 p.m.

Fans who use wheelchairs should enter Schmidt through through a loading door at the northeast side of the fieldhouse, next to the Armory. We’ll have volunteers at this entrance who can help people in wheelchairs down a ramp if needed and escort them to an accessible seating area on the floor. Fans with disabilities who do not use wheelchairs may enter through the main doors off of Winding Way and sit in the top middle section on either side of the fieldhouse if they are unable to walk down the stairs.

Another important seating note: Schmidt is an older arena, which makes it affordable for our amateur, all-volunteer team, but it does not have all of the amenities of modern venues. When deciding where to sit, keep in mind that the only men’s restrooms are located on the upper northeast side of the fieldhouse, above and past the team benches, and the only women’s restrooms are located on the opposite side of the fieldhouse. There is also an accessible restroom for fans with disabilities only; our ADA volunteers will direct these fans to this restroom.

3. Explore your transportation and parking options in advance.

For driving directions to Schmidt, use 3900 Winding Way, Cincinnati, OH 45229. Free parking is available on residential streets near Schmidt, but please be respectful of our neighbors and do not block driveways or tailgate anywhere on or near Xavier’s campus. You may also park in visitor parking lots shown with a blue P sign on this map, or in the spots surrounding the soccer field. For our fans with disabilities, six accessible parking spots will be available at the Armory, next door to Schmidt.

If you’d rather not drive and park yourself, you can use a ride-sharing service such as Uber and Lyft or take the bus. The two Metro bus routes that best serve the Xavier campus are Route 4 and Route 51. Routes 43, 45 and 47 are also nearby. For a map of bus stops near Xavier University, click here.

4. Bring money for drinks, snacks and official CRG merchandise.

Yes, there will be beer! Urban Artifact is our official beer sponsor this season, and Finn and Pinwheel will be for sale at our games through Xavier Concessions. Other domestic beers will also be available, as well as wine, bottled water, soft drinks and snacks. Beer prices range from $3-$6. The main concession window is located on the main entrance side off of Winding Way and will accept credit cards and cash. Another concession area will be located on the floor of the venue. Hungry for a bigger meal? Visit the Hungry Bros. food truck outside of Schmidt at every game this season!

And be sure to stop by the merch booth near the main entrance for T-shirts, hats, seat cushions, drink coozies, buttons, stickers, cowbells, stickers, buttons and more! Prices range from $1 to $24, and we accept cash and credit cards. The Cincinnati Junior Rollergirls will also have a table with merch for sale. Please note that there is no ATM at Schmidt.

5. You’re invited to the after-party!

Dana Gardens, a longtime Xavier University hangout located at 1832 Dana Ave., less than a mile from Schmidt, is our official after-party sponsor this year! Join us there after the game and enjoy their full bar and bar food. Free parking is available in the gravel lot and in the paved lot immediately next to the bar.

We look forward to seeing you on game day!
