The Cincinnati Rollergirls' Black Sheep will take on the Tampa Bay Derby Darlins of Tampa, FL in their third home double-header of the 2012 season. In the 40-minute opening game, the Violent Lambs will play the Hard Knox Roller Girls of Knoxville, TN. And once again, the Cincinnati Junior Rollergirls - many of whom are scouts! - will be skating at halftime. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the first game starts at 7 p.m. at the Cincinnati Gardens, 2250 Seymour Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45212.
This game marks our third annual Kids/Scout Night! Scouting groups and troops are encouraged to take advantage of our group sales rate of $8 per adult and $4 for kids 7-12 for groups of 10 or more. By filling out the group sales form (scroll down to the bottom of this page for the link), groups will also be able to attend a pre-game demo and meet and greet with the Cincinnati Rollergirls from 4:30-5:30 p.m. and receive a special commemorative patch. Please write the name of your scouting organization in the "announce our group" area of the form. NOTE: Children younger than 7 do NOT have to pay admission, but please note how many of them will be attending somewhere on the form so they can be counted with your group.
In addition, the largest troop group - which may include family members and friends of scouts - will receive a $1,000 donation from the Cincinnati Rollergirls! To quality, groups must include at least 25 people. Please turn in the group sales forms by Wednesday, April 18.
The Cincinnati Rollergirls will also be collecting donations for the Freestore Foodbank at this game. This is a great way for scouts to earn community service credits!
But wait, there's more! All kids - both scouts and non-scouts - will also receive a free CRG temporary tattoo at this game.

Feb 26 2012 - 9:30am - 12:00pm
The Cincinnati Rollergirls' second tryouts of 2012 have been scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 26 at 9:30 a.m. at The Skatin' Place! The address is 3211 Lina Place, Cincinnati, OH 45239-4122. Please arrive between 9 and 9:15 a.m. to get geared up and fill out a few forms. Sorry, tryouts are NOT open to the public.
You must be at least 18 years of age and female in order to try out. The skills you will be tested on are listed here: wftda.com/rules/wftda-minimum-skill-requirements.pdf
We expect a big turnout at this upcoming tryout, so if you don't have your own gear, arrive early: Gear will be available to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis. If you don't have skates, you can borrow a pair free of charge (thank you, Skatin' Place!). There will also be no fee to attend this tryout.
The required gear for tryouts includes helmet, wrist guards, elbow pads, knee pads and a mouth guard. Mouth guards can be purchased at any sporting goods or discount department store, like Target, for about $1. Make sure you read the directions on the back of the package because some of the mouth guards require molding in order to fit properly.
You can wear anything that you would be comfortable working out in, but keep in mind that you will be strapping knee pads over your pants. Also, please bring a water bottle, and be sure to eat a good breakfast before you come. We are going to be working hard and you will need the energy.
We will not offer any more boot camps before these tryouts, but the Skatin' Place offers a class for adults from 8-10 p.m. Mondays that teaches basic skating skills and some derby skills. This class is not affiliated with the Cincinnati Rollergirls and is open to both men and women. The cost is $5 per class. For more information, call the Skatin' Place at 513-522-2424.
Questions? Email recruitingcrg@gmail.com. Good luck, and we look forward to seeing you there!
