Mayor Declares June 19 Cincinnati Rollergirls Day
The Cincinnati Rollergirls are proud to announce that Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory has declared Saturday, June 19, 2010 as Cincinnati Rollergirls Day in Cincinnati. Read the press release from the mayor's office and the full text of the proclamation below.

CINCINNATI – Mayor Mark Mallory has proclaimed Saturday, June 19th “Cincinnati Rollergirls Day” in Cincinnati. Saturday night, the Cincinnati Rollergirls host their final home game of the season. It is a doubleheader with the Cincinnati Rollergirls Black Sheep taking on Milwaukee and the Cincinnati Rollergirls Silent Lambs against Evansville, IN.
“Our Rollergirls have had an outstanding season,” Mayor Mark Mallory said. “We need to pack the Gardens and show them our support as they make the drive to the playoffs.”
The Cincinnati Rollergirls Black Sheep are 6-0 in league sanctioned matches this year, and expect to qualify for the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association regional playoffs in September in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
“The Cincinnati Rollergirls have worked hard to make this our most successful season to date,” said Jennifer Adkins, a member of the Cincinnati Rollergirls’ leadership team and a skater who is known as “Trauma” to her fans. “We thank Mayor Mallory for recognizing our efforts with this Cincinnati Rollergirls Day proclamation and for supporting us as we head into the playoff season.”
To show their appreciation, the team will also give Mayor Mallory a Cincinnati Rollergirls T-shirt with his own roller derby name, as voted on by the team: “The Legiskater.”
Tickets are still available for Saturday’s doubleheader at Ticketmaster or the Cincinnati Gardens Box Office. Adult General Admission - $10; Track-Side Seating - $15 (18+ only) (seating limited); Ages 7-12 General Admission - $5; Ages 6 and under – Free. Doors open at 6 pm and the first game starts at 7 pm.
Saturday is also the Cincinnati Rollergirls' first-ever Hometown Heroes Night, which celebrates all branches of the military, V.F.W. members, law enforcement, fire departments, and first-responders. Hometown heroes can present their department or agency I.D. at the Cincinnati Gardens box office to receive a general admission ticket, normally $10, for just $7.
Starting Saturday, season tickets are available for the 2011 Cincinnati Rollergirls 6-game home season. Season tickets are $60 or $90 for adults, depending on the section, and $30 for kids. The 2011 schedule will be March 26, April 9, April 30, May 14, June 4, and June 18.

Cincinnati Rollergirls Day Proclamation
Whereas, in 2006, the Cincinnati Rollergirls became the first all-female roller derby team to form in Cincinnati; and
Whereas, record crowds have attended Cincinnati Rollergirls games at the Cincinnati Gardens in the team’s 5th season, including more than 3,200 fans at the season opener on March 27; and
Whereas, the Cincinnati Rollergirls is a player-owned and operated organization whose skaters and support staff are all volunteers; and
Whereas, the Cincinnati Rollergirls have given back to the community by donating more than $5,000 to date to local not-for-profit organizations; and
Whereas, the Cincinnati Rollergirls are currently ranked 4th in the North Central Region of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association, the sport’s governing body; and
Whereas, the Cincinnati Rollergirls’ all-star team, the Black Sheep, has a 6-0 record so far this season in WFTDA-sanctioned play; and
Whereas, due to their ranking and record, the Cincinnati Rollergirls’ Black Sheep expects to receive an invitation to compete in the regional playoffs in Green Bay, Wisconsin in September; and
Whereas, it is the goal of the Cincinnati Rollergirls to compete in the WFTDA championships after the playoffs and to become one of the top 10 women’s roller derby teams in the world;
Now, Therefore, I, Mark Mallory, Mayor of the City of Cincinnati do hereby proclaim June 19, 2010 as “Cincinnati Rollergirls Day” in Cincinnati.
