2011 Playoffs Preview

The Cincinnati Rollergirls will head to the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association’s North Central Region Playoffs for the fourth straight year from Oct. 7-9 in Indianapolis, facing many familiar opponents with a few new faces on their roster.

With a 4-9 record this season, Cincinnati’s Black Sheep enter the playoffs, called Monumental Mayhem, as the No. 5 seed. Their first matchup is against playoff hosts the Naptown Roller Girls at 7:30 p.m. Friday. No. 4 seed Naptown defeated Cincinnati for the first time ever in April at the Cincinnati Gardens, and both teams are hungry for a rematch.
The Black Sheep will enter the playoffs with roster that’s slightly different from the one they played with for most of this season. The departure of blockers Sk8 Crime and Trauma and jammer Hop Devil from Cincinnati opened the door for new skaters on the team’s charter of its top 20 players, including Kitten Kicker, Pistol Whippin’ Wendy and Polly Rocket from Cincinnati’s B team, the Silent Lambs. The charter 20 also includes Kansas City Roller Warriors transfer Penn Tupanga. All are making the trip to the playoffs and could see playing time except for Polly Rocket, who is sidelined with an injury. (The roster for any sanctioned game includes a maximum of 14 skaters out of the 20.)
Here’s CRG’s roster for the playoffs:
19 Barracuda // 33 Buckhead Betty // 32 candyKICKass // 0 Cherry Choke // 85 Hannah Ouchocinco // 21 June with a Cleaver // 83 Jungle Lacy // 19 K. Lethal // 3 Karma Krash // 4 Killian Destroy // 30 Kitten Kicker // 13 Maime // 44 Mirderher // 86 Nuk’em // 77 Penn Tupanga // 38 Pistol Whippin’ Wendy // 63 Polly Rocket // 29 Ruff’n the Passer // 11 Sk8r-Kinney // 43 Wheezy
