The Cincinnati Rollergirls were dealt their first home loss of 2011 on Saturday when Indianapolis’s Naptown Roller Girls skated away with their first-ever wins over their regional rivals. Naptown’s Tornado Sirens, ranked 6th in the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association’s North Central Region, defeated CRG’s 5th-ranked Black Sheep 167-94 in the main event. In the opening game, Naptown’s Warning Belles beat CRG’s Silent Lambs 149-39.

Two weeks after suffering a 149-61 loss to the Texas Rollergirls in Austin, Cincinnati’s Black Sheep worked hard to keep the game close with Naptown’s Tornado Sirens in the first half of Saturday’s game. With about 10 minutes left in the first half, after several lead changes, the Sheep were leading by their widest margin of the night–41-16–thanks in part to a power jam by Wheezy. But then two power jams by Naptown Tornado Sirens’ Willa Hoeflinch helped bring the halftime score to 60-53 in the Sirens’ favor.
Penalty trouble continued to plague the Black Sheep in the second half and they never regained the lead, despite crowd-pleasing back-to-back big jams by Trauma and Nuk’em that briefly swung the momentum back to the Sheep’s side. The score stood at Sirens 103, Sheep 85 with about 15 minutes left in the game, but then the Sirens pulled away again with a 30-point power jam by Maiden America, and the Sheep were unable to close the gap.
High scorers for the Black Sheep were Wheezy with 33 points, Hannah Ouchocinco with 31 points, Trauma with 20 points and Nuk’em with 10 points. The Tornado Sirens’ high scorers were Maiden America with 55 points, Willa Hoeflinch with 47 points, Amooze Booche with 39 points and Blue Messiah with 26 points.
In the opening 40-minute game between Cincinnati’s Silent Lambs and the Naptown Warning Belles, the score was close early in the first half, with the Lambs taking the lead twice. But the Lambs soon ran into trouble breaking up the Warning Belles’ walls and containing their speedy jammers, and the Belles pulled away to 86-28 at halftime. The Lambs would go on to score only 11 more points in the second 20-minute half while the Belles put up 63 more.
Scoring for the Lambs were Nastee with 19 points, Hot Slice with 12 points, Miss Print with 5 points and Sulfury Assid with 3 points. For the Belles, Slammy Faye scored 53 points, Trauma-lina scored 37 points, Piper Sonic scored 35 points and Racer Xtasy scored 24 points.
The losses bring the Black Sheep’s record to 2-2 for the season and the Silent Lambs’ record to 2-1. Miss the game? Replay the archived textcast.
