The Cincinnati Rollergirls will return to Schmidt Memorial Fieldhouse at Xavier University for the spring 2018 season.

The women’s amateur roller derby team announced their 2018 schedule via a commercial that aired locally on ESPN2 on Sunday, Nov. 12 during a rebroadcast of the first place game of the 2017 Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) International Championships.

CRG will hold four games at Schmidt in 2018 on the following dates:
Saturday, March 10
Saturday, April 7
Saturday, April 28
Saturday, May 19
All games are double-headers featuring CRG’s A team, the Black Sheep, and B team, the Violent Lambs, playing other WFTDA teams. Opponents will be announced soon. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the first game will start at 6 p.m. on each date.
Season tickets are now on sale through Brown Paper Tickets for $40 adults and $15 for children 7-12 (children 6 and younger are free). Season tickets include reserved seating, a merch discount and a CRG poster. Single tickets will go on sale at a later date.
The 3,000-seat Schmidt Memorial Fieldhouse served as the home of Xavier’s basketball from 1928 to 1983. It’s also hosted events ranging from political speeches (President Bill Clinton in 1996) to professional wrestling. Located at 3900 Winding Way on Xavier’s West Campus, Schmidt is now primarily used by the university’s recreational sports program.
The Cincinnati Rollergirls played their first season at Schmidt in 2017, after calling the historic Cincinnati Gardens home from 2007 through 2016. The team was forced to look for a new venue after the Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority announced plans to buy the Gardens in June 2016. The port authority plans to demolish the Gardens this year to make way for a high-tech manufacturing site.
