On the heels of a successful spring 2017 season at their new venue, Schmidt Memorial Fieldhouse at Xavier University, the Cincinnati Rollergirls will soon be back in action for their first-ever fall season.
The fall 2017 season will feature games between three new teams made up entirely of locally-drafted players. These three teams will play each other over a series of games between September and November, culminating in a local team championship game. This is different from CRG’s competitive spring season, in which Cincinnati takes on other Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) teams.
CRG had a record turnout of more than 50 skaters attend tryouts this year, which doubled the size of the league. CRG wants to continue to develop new skaters by giving them more opportunities to play in front of their families and friends, as well as prepare all skaters for the spring WFTDA season.
“Our spring season typically has only four or five home games, and every year, our fans tell us that they wish they had more opportunities to see us play,” said CRG Leadership Team member and skater ¡I, Caramba! “Our fall season will give fans the chance to see some friendly competition in a fun, laid-back environment.”
Tryouts for the fall season will be held on Sunday, July 30 at the Skatin’ Place. Go here for more information about tryouts.
Practices will be held on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings at local skating rinks, beginning Sunday, Aug. 13. Team names and rosters will be announced on Sunday, Aug. 20. Game dates, locations, ticket prices and more details will be announced in the coming weeks.
