For the 10th straight year, the Cincinnati Rollergirls have been voted Cincinnati’s Best Amateur/Semi-Pro Team by the readers of Cincinnati CityBeat in the Best of Cincinnati Readers Poll.
In addition, CRG skater and co-coach Wheezy was voted the Best Overall Local Athlete in the 2020 Best of Cincinnati Readers Poll, after placing third in the category in 2019. (Read more about Wheezy in this 2019 skater profile.) Female athletes swept the category this year: U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team star and Cincinnati native Rose Lavelle placed second, and Princeton High School cross-country star Maria Kaylor — who skated under the name Monkee Wrench for the Cincinnati Junior Rollergirls — placed third.
CRG was also named “Best Roaring Rolling Relocation” by CityBeat staff for the team’s eventual move to the Cintas Center at Xavier University. (CRG’s first game at Cintas has been delayed by the coronavirus pandemic and is tentatively scheduled for June 6.)
“Cintas Center is a major step up — the state-of-the-art arena not only offers top-notch accommodations across the board, it also has 10,224 seats,” the article reads. “All together, it should greatly help the team’s efforts to grow its rabidly loyal fanbase.”
