Game Preview: CRG vs. Louisville Roller Derby on June 7
We are so grateful to you–our amazing fans–for making this game already SOLD OUT.
Join the Cincinnati Rollergirls as we take on Louisville Roller Derby in our second home game of our 2025 season. It’s our second time going all out in our new, spectacular venue in Northside, The Apex. We are thrilled to announce that, unlike for game one, we now have seats for everyone. So if choose to sit on the floor trackside, as usual, or sit in our new chairs and just-donated bleachers! Tickets are sold out for this June 7 bout, but a few tickets are still available to our next home game, featuring our B Team, the Violent Lambs, on June 14.
We are hitting our stride this season and it’s fast! This game has our A Team, CRG Black Sheep, taking on Louisville’s best at 5 p.m.; doors open at 4 p.m.
THE TEAMS
This battle will feature CRG’s A team, the Black Sheep, versus Louisville Roller Derby.
Cincinnati players to watch will be jammers — the point scorers — Whitlash, Star Flatten’em, and Gore-gon. The blockers — those who stop the other team’s jammer from scoring while playing offense for their own jammer — to watch include Ursa Maimer, Shipwreck, and Crystal Whip (also one of the team’s two coaches). Shipwreck, the youngest on the team, had a great pic of her featured in the Cincinnati Enquirer’s recent piece on us. Check it out and learn more about the team here.
For Louisville, players to watch include KCDC (343), Dave N. Bust-her (21), Shellnita Crutch (911), and Slamus Aran (388).
For those who care about rankings, we are currently ranked 55th in WFTDA’s North America Northeast region — moving up eight spots after last month’s better-than-predicted performance against higher-ranked Akron Roller Derby — while Louisville is unranked. The last time we played Louisville was in April 2023 at Cintas Center, and they won that unsanctioned game. Saturday’s matchup is a seeding game that will get Louisville an initial ranking in our region, but won’t affect our ranking. You can always find our stats at the WFTDA site here.
MEET OUR TEAM CAPTAIN: URSA MAIMER
Captains get voted on separately for each game; it is an honor to be given this respect from your peers. Team captain for this bout is blocker, jammer, and all-around excellent player Ursa Maimer. Asked how they are feeling about our team overall, they said: “My teammates have overcome a lot collectively, in derby and in life. Whatever gets thrown at them, they show up with a passion to work hard and get better, and have fun doing it. Super proud they trusted me to be their captain!”
Asked what they hoped for our team for this specific game, Ursa said: “We’ve been talking at practice a lot about communication and the mental side of the game. I always love a hard-hitting, physical game, and I know we’ll bring that. But I’m also really looking forward to a smart and cerebral game. Really excited to gas my friends up over their strategy and smarts on top of the big hits!”
