Our Skater of the week is Fitzkrieg #603! Fitz is a force on the track, combining strength and strategy. She’s always communicating on the track, coordinating packs so they’re a step ahead. She’s strong, solid and shows up with heart and hustle every time. We’re so lucky to have her on our team. Check out what she had to say about joining roller derby:
How long have you been playing roller derby?
“Since 2019 but with Covid and injuries, 3 seasons.”

“Assistant InterLeague Coordinator.”
What kind of skates do you roll on?
“Bont hybrids.”
What’s your favorite position to play?
“Blocker, specifically the brace.”
What is one of your derby strengths?
“Communication. I try to constantly talk on the track so my teammates know where the jammer is and how we can coordinate.”
What made you want to play roller derby?
“I like being part of such a welcoming sport. I really enjoy staying active and getting to play full contact.”
If you had to pick a “highlight” from your derby career so far, what would it be?
“Last season I was MVP blocker for the last home game. That was really important to me because I gave it my all that game and I had been injured for the previous 2 games.”
What do you do for fun off the track?
“Read, park skate, crochet, take my dog on trail skates.”
What would you say to someone who has thought about playing roller derby?
“Come try it out. Go to Monday Night Derby. We’ll teach you have to skate and you’ll love hitting people.”
