Goregon #933 is our Skater of the Week! Whether it’s leaping over the apex or toe stopping her way to victory, we can’t get enough of watching Go-Go dominate the track. With her incredible agility and warm approachability, she’s a standout as both a skater and a teammate. We’re proud to be in her fan club!

Learn more about her journey to roller derby:

How long have you been playing roller derby?
“Around 3 years.”

What do you do for your day job?
“Lab tech! But mostly I drive around picking up samples.”

What is your volunteer role within the team?
“I’m one of our Interleague Coordinators.”

What kind of skates do you roll on?
“Solaris boots and arius platinum plates. Tried a teammate’s one time and knew it was for me.”

What’s your favorite position to play?
“Jammy pants! Been doing it since I graduated to full contact and I just love the way it feels.”

What is one of your derby strengths?
“Oh boy I do sure like to jump. I’ve also been told my bones are sharp and very unpleasant to make contact with. The gore in my name is meant to be about goring people with my bone spears!”

What made you want to play roller derby?
“My sister, Megan (who is also recently a new mother!), offhandedly suggested it at pride one year. I was looking for a new hobby that would get me out more so I went to a bootcamp without any idea how to skate and now here we are.”

If you had to pick a “highlight” from your derby career so far, what would it be?
“When we went to St. Louis to play (and get stomped by) Arch Rival’s B team. A bunch of us stayed in a house with a skate park in the back and got to drop in on a Gatekeepers practice.”

What do you do for fun off the track?
“D&D, games, listen to my audiobooks, a little embroidery.”

What would you say to someone who has thought about playing roller derby?
“It’s pretty cooooooool. You’ll meet some of the most genuine, supportive, welcoming and fun people in the world. I feel so privileged to call some of these folks my friends and it’s been the best decision I ever made. (Thanks, Megan)”
