Our Skater of the Week is Robin Jewels #16! This is Jewel’s 2nd season with CRG, and she’s already proven herself a force on the track. When she jams, her fast footwork always leaves us in awe. When she blocks, you can count on her to communicate. Plus, she’s committed off the track: She’s always repping CRG out into the community – skating in parades and at volunteer events.
She shared how she found roller derby:

How long have you been playing Roller Derby?
“1 1/2 years.”

What do you do for your day job?
“Server and Cheese Production.”

What is your volunteer role within the team?
“WFTDA Rep.”

What kind of skates do you roll on?
“Riedell Solaris.”

What’s your favorite position to play?
“Jammer or Butt of tripod.”

What is one of your derby strengths?
“I have long legs and can be quick.”

What made you want to play Roller Derby?
“Going to my first Cincinnati Roller Girls game when I was a kid. Inspired me until I jumped into it finally as an adult.”

If you had to pick a “highlight” from your derby career so far, what would it be?
“Getting to be one of the jammers in my very first bout!”

What do you do for fun off the track?
“I cook and bake and cook some more. Spend time with loved ones.”

What would you say to someone who has thought about playing roller derby?
“DO IT! Changed my life.”
