In recent years, Cincinnati (area code 513) has begun celebrating itself on May 13, aka 513 Day. We at the Cincinnati Rollergirls would like to take this day to recognize and thank our volunteer officials, who collectively call themselves the Officials Union Local 513. They're the ones who make sure we're skating safely; track points, penalties and a host of other important stats; and generally keep skaters in line and games running smoothly. 2017 is bringing big changes for your Cincinnati Rollergirls! After 10 wonderful years at the to-be-demolished Cincinnati Gardens, we’ll be playing our 2017 home season at Schmidt Memorial Fieldhouse at Xavier University. In their first game at the Cincinnati Rollergirls’ new venue, Schmidt Memorial Fieldhouse at Xavier University, CRG’s Black Sheep fell to the Fort Wayne Derby Girls’ Bomb Squad, 148-125.

2017 will be an important year for the Cincinnati Rollergirls. For the first time in 10 seasons, they will skate on a floor that isn’t inside the Cincinnati Gardens for a home opener. Instead, they’ll roll out their 2017 home season at the historic Schmidt Memorial Fieldhouse at Xavier University.

I have that same feeling of excitement and childlike wonder when I watch this Cincinnati Rollergirls Black Sheep team. Over the last few years, they have grown, they have come together and they molded themselves into something truly special.

On second thought, definitely call it a comeback! This August, the Cincinnati Rollergirls Black Sheep return to WFTDA Playoffs after a two-year absence. Their road back was long and winding, fraught with big challenges and big changes.
